United Way KW

Fall 2013 – United Way Kitchener-Waterloo and Area is a catalyst for social change, targeting the source of local challenges to fix problems at the root. Their commitment extends beyond monetary investment, as they also mobilize people and other resources to change community conditions for the better.

THE CHALLENGE

United Way Kitchener-Waterloo and Area has an admirable ability to connect with people in the community in the face-to-face world. However, United Way also knows building digital connections with people in the community is equally important.   United Way was looking to update their online presence, starting with a fresh website. They also wanted to work with an innovative company that could build them a strategy to not only grow their following on social media but to also improve the quality of the engagement with that following.

THE WORK

Stryve began updating United Way KW’s digital presence with the website. This work included:

  • Developing new wireframes and sitemaps to best organize and display United Way’s messages
  • Translating the strong United Way brand into a fresh, modern look
  • Training United Way KW staff on using WordPress

Once launched, we switched our efforts to social media. This work included:

  • A brand key and content plan to outline the tone and type of content to be posted
  • Daily updates on social media, sourced and posted by Stryve
  • 6 promotions and ad campaigns in order to increase Facebook Likes

THE RESULTS

The new United Way KW website was launched at http://www.uwaykw.org/. By implementing a new CMS and training the United Way team on it, they have been able to manage the site and its content on their own.

Through our social media content plan and promotions, United Way KW’s Facebook Likes increased by 1,100. Engagement with the page is now 3x higher than it used to be, which allows United Way to stay top-of-mind with the community.

We knew from the first time we met Sourov De that we had found a United Way KW supporter.  Sourov and Ryan from Stryve Group were interested in working with us and during 2013 began work on our website conversion.  During the website unveil, Ryan indicated that they had created a new website for us, which was far beyond what we had contracted them to do, and that they had done everything for the original price!  In addition to the website, Stryve Group helped to build our social media following and compared to other United Ways, we now have the third largest following in Canada. We appreciate Stryve Group’s support and look forward to working together again.
