View your mobile designs live with Preview CC
With over a million apps available for iOS devices, it only made sense for Adobe to release an app that helped designers create them. Preview CC is the latest companion app update from Adobe Photoshop CC. It allows you preview your mobile app and website layouts on multiple iOS devices while you work.
How Does it Work?
First, download the Preview CC app on your iOS device. Once the app is on your device, open Device Preview in Photoshop by selecting it under the Window dropdown menu. To start previwing, connect your device to your computer using a Wi-Fi network (both your device and computer need to share the same network) or plug in your device via USB. Open your design file and Preview will load your artboard onto your device so you can see your designs live! This means that any change you make in Photoshop will simultaneously update on your iOS device.
Along with Preview CC is the new added feature of artboards in Photoshop. This feature is great for designing mobile apps because it allows you to create and view multiple screens at once in a single file. In Preview CC, you can select any of your artboards from the top drop-down menu, or just swipe left or right to cycle through them.
This app is one of my favourite updates for Photoshop CC. It has given me an increased ability to create precise designs, especially in the areas of font legibility, proper icon sizing and colour choices. Being able to see your designs live on your iOS device while working on them in Photoshop is such a powerful tool.
What About Android Users?
Unfortunately Preview CC is not yet available for Android users.
